I was born in Madisonville, Kentucky. My father was a coal miner and a farmer. In 1963, my family moved to Key Largo, Florida after my father had a farming accident and broke his neck in two places and needed a warmer climate. I grew up helping my father in commercial fishing and I began working in a fish house full time when I was just 12 years old.
Our family attended the First Baptist Church in Key Largo, and when I was 8 years old I gave my heart to Jesus at Vacation Bible School.
When I was 16, God called me into full time ministry, but I ran from the call..
I got married and had twin sons during those years of running. My wife ended up leaving me and I lost custody of my boys. Those were some dark days and though I continued to be involved in the church, I wasn't living for the LORD. I even believed at that time that abortion was a woman's choice.
Thank God for His redeeming love.
In 1987, I met and married my wife Joli. God blessed us with a son and two daughters.
In 1993, Joli and I attended the Miami Preganancy Care Center Banquet and heard the testimony of Gianna Jessen. She was just 13 years old and she sang and shared her testimony.
She had been aborted and she did not die.
It was then that I knew I would be in a pro life ministry. I had been a "pro choice" Christian, but God touched and transformed my heart to be a 100% pro life. But I still was not being a voice for life.
In 2001 I felt the call into full time ministry again, and again I ran.
Thank God for His restoring love.
It might surprise you that I thought I could apease God and not do what he was calling me to do by attending Bible college. We sold our home and business and with our three children in tow, moved to Pineville, Kentucky. I began taking classes at Clear Creek Baptist Bible College. I graduated in 2005 with my bachelors degree in pastoral care.
Though I was trying to get away from the call on my life God continued to pursue me, and was orchestrating each step in my journey. I felt the leading of the Holy Spirit that my wife, and I, and our three children should travel and share the message of the Sanctity of Human LIFE at churches. Choose Life Ministries was born.
Thank God that He never gives up on us.
I speak to adults and share in the main church services. Joli shares with the children and has now begun to also share at women's ministry events. Our son traveled with us and spoke to the youth from 2005 to 2010. Our daughter, Caitlyn, felt called to Deaf missions when she was just 9 years old and she would sign a song in every service. She served in CLM from 2005 to 2018. Our youngest daughter, Crystal, would help wherever she was needed and many times performed puppet shows for the children teaching them about Jesus. She helped the ministry from 2005 to 2012.
Now Joli and I continue to travel and share everywhere God opens the door.
